Hi everyone. Today I drove another 200 miles or so in total. There were some impressive sites that I witnessed. Without further ado, I will just post everything I did in order:
Inverness Botanic Garden
In the morning, we went to Inverness Botanic Garden. It was FREE (with proposed donation of £10 per person). It was small. The most exciting part was cacti greenhouse (if you know me then you know I prefer cacti out of all plants on this planet).
Dores Viewpoint / Hunters Viewpoint
Our next stop – Dores Viewpoint. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find it (I didn’t look very hard). So I drove a few more miles by Loch Ness coast and found Hunters’ Viewpoint (or something)
Urquhart Castle
From there I drove around 40 miles around Loch Ness to visit Urquhart Castle. Or what’s left of it. I only took 1 picture from the top of castle (where you are allowed to legally climb).
Eilean Donan Castle
Drove another 40 or so miles to visit, yet another, casltle called Eilean Donan Castle. Unlike Urquhart, this one still stand and you can enter the castle for £21. Unfortunately, no photos allowed and I didn’t take any photos from outside either. You will have to take my word that inside of castle is beautiful. Especially the kitchen where they have real life statues of workers and chefs who look very real. On to the next stop!
Commando Memorial
Then drove around another 60 miles or so. This time – Commando Memorial where you can see memorial for fallen soldiers. Also 3 giant solder statues. And a LOT OF TOURISTS. As we entered the parking spot, there were 3 buses full of tourists and another 2 arrived while we spent our time there (maybe 15 minutes)
So that is it. A day full of amazing sights (mainly of large lakes). Tomorrow I might not be able to see or do much as I have to drive over 300 miles to get home. That alone will take me 8-9 hours.
